It’s begun! The 2011 Revolution Per Minute Fall Tour kicked off at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom – Friday, October 21
Well, for a lot of people (Including all the band members of BIG SUGAR) last night could not have come any faster.
Finally the tour has begun, and if the first night’s concert is any indication, concert goers across Canada are going to be getting a full injection of sweetness every evening. BIG SUGAR will be playing long and loud every night, with a mixture of new songs from their 2011 studio album REVOLUTION PER MINUTE, combined with a selection of hits from past BIG SUGAR albums.
Appreciative crowds at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, having been truly warmed up by opening act Wide Mouth Mason, were entertained long into the night, grooving to the sounds of BIG SUGAR.
Two things that happened last night in Vancouver’s first of two sold out performances –
A 12 piece mariachi band based in Vancouver joined BIG SUGAR on stage for a rousing version of “Turn the Lights On.” BIG SUGAR front man Gordie Johnson spotted some of the mariachi band members while doing a television visit in Calgary in July and invited them to join BIG SUGAR on stage when the Vancouver concerts took place. They did last night, and they will be there again tonight.
Also, Friday’s concert unveiled the premiere performance of BIG SUGAR’s first ever Christmas Song (!) – “If Santa Don’t Bring You No Funk.” Performed by BIG SUGAR with a healthy contribution from Wide Mouth Mason, this is – guaranteed – the best new Christmas song of the year. Period! And you can pick up your own copy at the Sugar Shack Merch Table during the concert tour.
So now the concert tour is in full swing and all is right in the world.
If you have tickets for an upcoming tour date – below is the set list detailing what BIG SUGAR played last night. This will give you ideas of what to expect, but take notice – no two BIG SUGAR sets are ever the same. Some songs will be dropped and others will be added each night, but all concerts will be more than a Little Bit A All Right! That’s a guarantee!
Oh… and if you don’t have tickets for an upcoming tour date – don’t you think you should be doin’ sumthin’ bout that? Hmmn ???
